Enjoying Microsoft's Popular Jigsaw Puzzle App
I'm always seeking out new ways I can enjoy my computer for play as well as work - and even better, using computer play time to stimulate my mind, reflex response, etc.
Microsoft Jigsaw is a fun source of rainy day entertainment at home, a perfect complement for the Microsoft Solitaire Collection and other games on the Windows 10 Microsoft Store.
Hundreds of puzzles are included in this download. They come in three "game modes" - Classic Jigsaw, Jigsaw Jam, and Daily Challenges.
Plus, the game package even lets you create original custom puzzles from your own pictures and photos.
On a PC, you can use either your touchscreen or your mouse-keyboard devices to play. Game play with this app is very intuitive, easy to navigate. Microsoft Jigsaw also works well with a tablet.
Many if not most of the puzzle choices I've browsed are free. (There are many low-priced additional picture sets available too.)
This past week, I spent the better part of a rainy afternoon on a puzzle binge to get the hang of the game pack.
Classic Jigsaw Play:
Classic Jigsaw is exactly what you would expect traditional jigsaw puzzles to be on a computer. The Microsoft Jigsaw package includes tons of themes and puzzle images to choose from.
A really nice features is that you can select the number of pieces in the puzzle to make it easier or more difficult. I played mostly in the 150-piece range, which was just right for the time I could spend one afternoon in between my home chores.
Also, you can zoom, automatically arrange pieces, and use special in-game trays to help sort pieces.
Jigsaw Jam:
If you're inclined to set performance goals, Jigsaw Jam is a game mode that lets you play against a timer.
While the timer ticks away, you find the right fit for each piece quickly to earn bonus multipliers and get a high score!
Jigsaw Jam is very easy to play but is a challenge to master. Many people enjoy challenging themselves though, so this game mode will add to the fun for some folks.
Daily Challenges
The "daily challenge" experience built into other Microsoft games also is a built-in option in Microsoft Jigsaw. If you opt for this, you'll receive new challenges each day, including fresh Jigsaw variants and new game modes. Complete enough Daily Challenges in a month to earn badges and complete with your friends.
Custom Puzzles
Here's a splendid feature that fits right in with our love for sharing pictures and photos with friends and family.
You can actually turn your own personal pictures into jigsaw puzzles that you can play with Microsoft Jigsaw.
Imagine the wide range of favorite photos you have available to try this - the funny, the sentimental, the pretty, the memorable.
Besides importing your photos into puzzle form from you device or camera, you also can export your custom jigsaw puzzles to friends or family so they can enjoy them as well.
Microsoft Account Sign-ins
If you sign in with a Microsoft account, your progress is stored cloud so you can play your game on any device without missing a beat! Also, Windows 10 allows for Xbox Live Integration which enables you to earn achievements, compete with your friends on the leaderboards, and track your personal gameplay statistics.
